Discover the Oregon Bass and Panfish Club

Founded in 1958 in Portland, Oregon, the Oregon Bass and Panfish Club has grown from a small group of fishing enthusiasts into a vibrant community dedicated to the love of fishing.

Our mission is to build a welcoming environment where anglers of all skill levels can come together to enjoy fishing for warmwater species. We prioritize community, education, and fun in all our activities, ensuring that every member feels valued and included. Volunteering and Community

For many years the club has worked closely with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife on warmwater fish projects, including the St. Louis and Hartman ponds and Henry Hagg Lake.

Club members also have volunteered to transplant warmwater fish, improve fish habitats and help at kids fishing events.

Oregon State Warmwater Fish Records

Back in the early 60s, the Oregon Game Commission (now known as the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, or ODFW) asked the Oregon Bass and Panfish Club (OBPC) to take care of state records for all warmwater fish. Since we were already tuned in to what everyone was catching across the state and ODFW just didn’t have the resources to keep track of it all, they figured we were the best fit for the job. Big shout out to our first contest chair, Roy Hughes (who has since passed), along with the other chairmen who followed him—thanks to their hard work, we’ve become the go-to source for this info. Now, every district office of ODFW and other bass clubs in Oregon know to reach out to us with new records or questions. We even share this info with the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and the International Game Fish Association for their official record publications!

PKOrWithBass
PK Or

Treasurer

PK has been a member of OPBC since 2018. Prior to joining OBPC, PK had no fishing experience. One of PK’s retirement goals was to learn how to fish. In that regard, OBPC is the right place for PK to learn how-to, when-to and where-to fish. Besides fishing, PK enjoys the camaraderie with fellow club anglers and volunteering at many events such as Take a Soldier Fishing, and C.A.S.T. for Kids.

Currently, PK is serving on the OBPC Board as a Treasurer from 2022. Before that, PK was a Membership Director from 2019 to 2020.
